 Gardeners WANTED!!

Remember when the whole strip along the railroad tracks flourished in blooms and bountiful veggies as families relied on growing their own food? Thanks to this amazing program offered by America in Bloom, we hope to see more gardens growing in 2021~ Whether your passion is containers on the porch or 30' gourds along the tracks, Growing Vibrant Communities offers guidance, learning and measurable assessment.
America in Bloom (AIB) promotes nationwide beautification through education and community involvement by encouraging the use of flowers, plants, trees, and other environmental and lifestyle enhancements. We envision communities across the country as welcoming and vibrant places to live, work, and play – benefiting from colorful plants and trees; enjoying clean environments; celebrating heritage; and planting pride through volunteerism.

Grand Ridge is a rural community 90 miles Southwest of Chicago, Illinois first mapped when settlers staked claim to farmland in the 1860's. Circa 1871, the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad renamed the highest point of land on the rails from Streator to Aurora 'Grand Ridge Station'
